Most Britons throw away damaged household electrical items without any attempt to repair them first, a survey found today.
Despite pressure to reduce electronics landfills, 86% of people immediately discard broken household items and 46% would replace a stereo, MP3 or DVD player simply because it had stopped working.
Another 12% would replace an electrical item just because the fuse had blown, according to the poll for insurer Legal & General.
