SAMSUNG Strengthens Audio-Visual Leadership With Extensive Line-Up of Multi-Platform and High-Definition Products
Market leader strengthens position with stylish and technologically-advanced models
SAMSUNG Electronics today unveiled a comprehensive range of 15 multi-platform audio-visual products designed to satisfy every consumer lifestyle at the SAMSUNG AV Roadshow 2008. SAMSUNG’s top-of-the-line High Definition (HD) Televisions, home entertainment systems and portable gadgets feature the industry’s most advanced technology and design excellence, paving the way for the company to extend its leadership in the audio-visual product category.
“As a pioneer in the HD market and the market leader in LCD and CTVs categories for the last two years, SAMSUNG will leverage our technological and product strengths to deliver the ultimate home entertainment experience to consumers with a comprehensive product line-up. We will strive to make further inroads into the audio-visual industry backed by our phenomenal success with our LCD TVs. Last year, we sold more than 600,000 LCD TVs in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Our target is to cross the one million mark for LCD TV sales in the region this year,” said Mr. Ki-Heung Yoon, Managing Director, Electronics Business Division, SAMSUNG Asia Pte Ltd.
Based on GfK’s Singapore Retail Report for 2007, SAMSUNG achieved 22 per cent market share by unit and 26 per cent market share by value for TVs. In addition, SAMSUNG experienced the fastest growth in the industry with 47 per cent year-on-year growth, emerging as the best-selling LCD TV brand with 31 per cent market share by value. Recognising consumers’ desire for large sized and Full HD LCD TV panels, SAMSUNG expanded its product offering and came out tops in both categories with 36 per cent and 32 per cent market share by value for LCD TVs above 40 inches and Full HD LCD TV panels respectively.
